Body Lift

Indications
Body Lift surgery emcompasses a group of operations intended to treat the abdomen much like a tummy tuck does but also includes lifitng the thigh and buttocks. Many patients seeking these procedures have experienced a significant weight loss from dieting and exercise, Gastric Bypass or Lap Band surgery.

Goals
The intent of the surgery is to improve the shape and contour of the abdomen, buttocks and thighs.

Where does the Surgery take place?
These opertions are done in a Hospital operating room.

Anesthesia
General Anesthesia is required.

Surgery Time
These surgeries, particularly for patients with significat weight loss ( > 100 pounds), can range from 2 to 4 hours. Each case will be different.

Hospital Stay
In many cases you can go home after surgery. For more extensive procedures an overnight stay is recommended. Rarely do patients stay more than one night.

Recovery
Recovery can take up to two to three weeks in some cases. Initially, those patients with babies or small children may want to recruit some help. Most patients get back to their normal level within 2 weeks. It may take 4 to 6 weeks before you can exercise.

Follow-up
After surgery you should plan on weekly visits for at least the first 2 or 3 weeks. After that point one or two more visits is all that is required. We then ask that you return yearly to check your progress.

Complications
As with any type of surgery, complications can occur following body lift procedures. These circumstances will be covered in detail with you during your consultation.

Fees
Fee ranges vary tremendously with these procedures and depend on the scope of your problem. For that reason it is best that we provide that information at the time of your consultation.
